The Story
This is Antisia’s recipe. She’s been making it for family Sunday dinners and every holiday meal that requires a main dish that can feed a crowd without requiring a last-minute scramble.
Soul Sauce goes in twice. Once mixed into the meat for moisture — it keeps the loaf from drying out and builds flavor from the inside. Then again spread across the top after baking, so the glaze caramelizes in the oven’s final heat. Two jobs. One bottle.
“Antisia is in charge of everything — including me. This is her recipe.”
Make it the day before and reheat — it’s better the second day. Slice cold for sandwiches the next morning. Soul Sauce on the side for dipping.
When to Make This
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a loaf pan or baking sheet with foil.
- In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, and ¼ cup Mr. Levi’s Mild Soul Sauce. Mix until just combined — don’t overwork it.
- Shape into a loaf and place in pan. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
- Remove from oven. Spread a generous layer of Mild Soul Sauce across the top.
- Return to oven for 15–20 minutes until the glaze is set and the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
- Rest 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra Soul Sauce on the side.
